1998 Porsche 911(993) Turbo S
For Sale: A superb example of the final iteration of the air-cooled 911 Turbo and one of only 26 in right-hand drive.
Sitting at the top of the 993-generation hierarchy, Porsche's 911 Turbo ‘S’ was introduced as the first-ever model of its kind in 1997. The basic facts can look a bit dry; Type 993, 444bhp, 3605cc air-cooled flat six-cylinder engine with twin turbochargers and electronic fuel injection, six-speed manual trans-axle driving all four wheels, front and rear independent suspension with coil springs, and four-wheel ventilated steel disc brakes, however, the ‘S’ was a big step up over the standard 911 Turbo in terms of performance and price. Headlined by a 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds, the Turbo S could hit 100 mph from a standstill in 8.9 seconds, only half a second faster than the standard Turbo. But that didn't matter, the Turbo S was special and getting your name on the waiting list to buy one was nigh on impossible unless you were very closely related to a Dealer Principal. All 345 examples of the 993 Turbo S were built by the ‘Porsche Exclusive’ department and the specification included a number of unique features when compared to other 911s of the period. The car sported yellow brake callipers, a unique rear spoiler, polished five-spoke Turbo S wheels, an Aerokit front spoiler, an air intake in the rear wings, and four exhaust pipes at the rear. Inside, the 911 Turbo S luxuriated in carbon fibre trim contrasting with the softest of leathers and provided the type of luxury that customers had come to know and love from Porsche's top-shelf models.
This, beautifully presented, 1998 C-25 Turbo S is one of only 26 in right-hand drive, we believe, and has been enjoyed by three former keepers who between them have covered just 45,586 miles. It's finished in Guards Red with a stunning black leather interior and was optioned from new with Automatic Brake Differential (ABD), Limited Slip Differential (LSD), Electric Sport Seats, Sound + premium sound package, Litronic headlights, onboard computer and the Interior Carbon Pack which combines leather and carbon on the door trims, steering wheel and hand brake lever.
993 Turbos are very collectable and the Turbo S even more so, particularly in this immaculate condition. Their rarity means that these cars seldom become available on the market, often being quietly moved from one collector to another so, here at Fiennes Showroom, we are delighted to be able to offer this superb example. Supplied with both sets of keys, the original Book Pack containing its manuals and service records and reams of invoices, this special car will reward any inspection.
