Vehicle Description

The early Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 coupes were produced from March 1961 to October 1964 with a total of 7,669 cars made. A large number were left-hand drive due to their huge popularity across the globe, as it offered a combination of beauty, sports performance, and what was at the time very competitive pricing.

This Jaguar model established itself as an icon of the motoring world, inspiring countless future sports car examples to come.

We have a highly desirable Series 1 3.8 fixed head coupe, presented today in fabulous condition, having been sympathetically restored in 2018 and finished in heritage correct Opalescent Gunmetal over a vibrant red trim.

Leaving the production line in October 1963 as a left-hand drive coupe, this E-type was shipped and arrived at Jaguar Cars, New York and offered for sale later that year.
It was in the summer of 1964 when the E-type entered into its first ownership under the name G.S. Herscher of Charleston, W.VA, recorded by the original supplied Jaguar Cars LTD. Coventry Manufacturer Warranty.
The E-type remained in the USA for the majority of its life, recording another sale from the Beverly Hills Car Club to a Mr Harwood of North Carolina, in August 1975.

The car returned to the UK in 2015 as a running restoration project, the current owner commissioning a mechanical recommission before embarking on an external and internal restoration.

Starting its restoration in December 2017, the Coupe received a full exterior and interior strip down revealing areas of corrosion and taking this opportunity, the E-type underwent fitment of a new n/s floor section, repaired wings, quarter panels, further floor sections, footwells, engine mounts and bonnet inner panels.

Leading up to the end of its restoration the E-type was finished in its 1963 heritage correct paint colour and refitted with original replated exterior brightwork.
Ensuring not to leave out the interior, the car was retrimmed and fitted with new carpets, sill vinyls, a headliner, console and dash.

To retain the classic drive of this early 1960s icon, the running was left in mostly original condition with the exception of a modern cooling fan for reliability.
It is understood that during this restoration the E-type was also converted from left-hand drive to right-hand drive for comfortable UK driving.

The E-type is accompanied by a detailed history file featuring original manufacture document, restoration estimates, part and work invoices.

It has full matching numbers, has been well maintained and is an original running example worthy of any enthusiast’s collection.

Owning a Jaguar E-Type is something special complemented by a fantastic group of Jaguar clubs that are gearing up for the E-Types 60th anniversary in 2021.
