Derby Bentley Freestone and Webb
Chassis no: B185 EJ
Registration: MXS 318
We have for sale this stunning 1936 Derby Bentley 3 ½-litre upgraded to 4.25-litre, Top Hat Saloon by English coachbuilders Freestone and Webb.
After being rebuilt the car made its way to America in 1977, having been sold by Frank Dale & Stepsons.
The current UK owner has had it since 2004 and undertook a four year restoration, to include upgrading the car for long distance driving.
The 3 ½ engine and gearbox were uprated to a 4 ¼ unit, uprated 3.25 back axle gearing and an air conditioning system was also fitted, along with a modern alternator.
During the engine build further upgrades were added for an improved driving experience and these included high compression pistons, a deturbulated cylinder head, a high capacity radiator, new valves, new springs & mark VI con rods.
As a result the engine now puts out far in excess of the original horsepower, allowing for very fast long distance runs at and above modern traffic speeds all, conducted in a relaxed manner.
The car is beautifully finished in a dark metallic maroon with the roof contrasting in a secondary darker colour.
To the interior are dark brown hides throughout in lovely patinated condition and the interior woodwork has been removed and refinished.
There are new carpets fitted throughout and a lovely addition is an almost complete set of small tools in a recess in the boot lid.
It is just one of eight produced to this fabulous design with just a few still in existence today. It is UK Registered and has had no expense spared
