Vehicle Description

Fiennes Showroom are proud to offer this 1935 3 ½ litre Park Ward Sports Saloon For Sale.

First Purchased by Mr John P Glass in July 1935 this desirable late 3 ½ litre EF series with all aluminum body, speed sensitive ride control and one shot lubrication really does allow some of the finest pre-war motoring possible.

Exported to the USA in late 68 and purchased by Judge Peterson from Illinois. Harry Weller from Colorado then retained ownership from 1971-1976.
The final stateside owners were Dan and Elaine Obele from Phoenix, Arizona who held this 3 ½ between 1976-1989.

BYN 966 was then re-imported into the UK in April 1989 by Riverside Automobiles, Finningham, Suffolk and then purchased by current owner in June 1989.

The current owner, being a professional engineer himself, has thoroughly enjoyed and also restored this Derby himself, having covered ten thousand miles in the last ten years through England, Wales, Scotland, France and even picking up the ‘First in class Elegance’ prize at the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts Club annual rally 2016.

During the current ownership the exterior has benefitted from a bare metal re-spray and has been finished in Black over Stratos Blue and is in fine condition throughout.

The interior is presented with great patina throughout, all being original except for the front seat cushions which have been re-trimmed in matching blue Connolly hide.

It is clear to see that this example has always been well maintained and cared for as the engine, body, gearbox, dynamo and starter motor are all matching numbers parts.

The engine has been fully rebuilt which included a new cylinder head and valves supplied by Fiennes, New liners, pistons, bearings etc.Crankshaft damper reline,Clutch rebuilt, new clutch plate,

Complete rewire including fitment of a battery master switch,
Headlamps re-silvered and all brightwork re-chromed,
King pins replaced, brakes re-bushed,
Spring blades reset/replaced, shackle pins and bushed replaced,
One shot lubrication system restored,
Shock absorbers and ride control overhauled,

To complement the works detailed above there is a comprehensive file with all of the receipts which makes an interesting read which most owners would prefer not to revisit.

This is truely a genuine car that can be enjoyed for many years to come. It started on the button and travelled out of the garage beautifully and I commented on how well the Derby was sitting.
An opportunity not to be missed.
