Bentley Motors produced charismatic and world renowned quality sports cars between the 1930s and 40s. Every component was tested for 15,000miles before it was incorporated into a production car resulting in a degree of engineering integrity which allowed the Derby Bentley to happily cover 100,000 miles which is why will still enjoy these beautifully engineered cars today.

BRE409 was purchased and built for an English gentlemen, Leslie Hawkins who was an entrepreneurial individual and well known within the Rolls-Royce and Bentley enthusiasts arena. Leslie Hawkins was a close friend of Roy Rowbottom, a very respected Bentley design engineer. Both Leslie and Roy embarked on the unique design with the close coupled integral boot, drophead coupe, making its body shorter and lighter than normal.

A further 3 orders were placed with Park Ward of this design but only 1 was ever made making this a very rare motor car.
In 1947 BRE409 was purchased by His Grace The Duke of Grafton and was used regularly by the Duke and Duchess of Grafton until the car was sold to an officer in the Royal Air Force W/C W Hase in 1953.

BRE409 did spend some of its life in the USA and was restored by Automotives Inc Florida and was then kept in a purpose built heated garage. In 1989 after Dr Beller decided he was too old to drive decided to sell BRE409 and the Bentley returned to England in January 1989. Mr Pridmore, a prominent member of the Rolls-Royce and Bentley Club imported the car along with all of it's papers, restoration photographs and original build sheets.

BRE409 was sold again in 1993 and has remained in the same ownership since.
